Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a cutting edge fighting art developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family of Brazil. (The term "Gracie Jiujitsu" is sometimes used interchangeably with "Brazilian Jiujitsu."). Even though Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu contains standup techniques for winning a fight, it is famous for its devastating ground fighting techniques. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was specifically developed to allow a smaller person to defeat a larger person by sophisticated applications of leverage and technique. Gaining superior position on your opponent and applying a myriad of chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations is the foundation for this martial art. BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.[3] Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance. Learn how to execute these techniques and use your entire body to defend yourself, all while benefiting from a great workout!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most in demand Martial Art style in the United States. Learn the same techniques the Gracie Family and their students have used to dominate the competition. Requiring little or no strength, this art is a great self-defense system for men, women and children.
